How to Choose the Perfect Accommodation for Your Travel Style

How to Choose the Perfect Accommodation for Your Travel Style
If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in a boardrooms-and-business hotel when red-roses-romance was the intention or hoping for some quiet lazy-lounging and discovered your hotel is on the side of a major highway, then you know that choosing the right accommodation is key to you’re the success of your stay. We’ve put together a quick-guide on choosing the right accommodation for long-stays, romance or business. And for Canberra visitors, we’ve included our recommendation of the perfect room choice at Knightsbridge.

Canberra Is for Couples
Romantic accommodation is much more than just an inviting bedroom. Choose somewhere that feels fresh and modern, sophisticated but welcoming.

Choose a room that makes it easy to go to bed earlier and wake up later, a room where you can choose plenty of views or block them out and hideaway.

As romantic as a hotel stay can be, it’s also the perfect opportunity to just relax and do-nothing. So, Wi-Fi, plenty of TV channel choices and a minibar, are all going to add to the atmosphere.

Beyond the bedroom, nothing says romance like a little spa pampering, followed by a slow soak in the bath. Make sure your romantic Canberra accommodation has a bathroom that’s as inviting as the bedroom.

Our recommendation: Executive Room. Not only do you get little luxury extras like free Wi-Fi and Foxtel, but of-course the bed is King size, the windows are floor-to-ceiling with a balcony (and black-out blinds), there is a bath and a large volume rainfall shower. In season there is also an outdoor spa, and we’re located near some of the most romantic restaurants in the city.

All Work (And A Little Play)
Business accommodation doesn’t need to be bland, and just because you’re here for work it doesn’t mean the experience has to be painful. Choose accommodation that balances business and leisure.

Make sure your accommodation has plenty of productive spaces, so you can work at a desk or in the lounge, or even from bed.

A room that has a lounge and smart TV for an ad-hoc in-room presentation is always a good way to impress. You need to stay connected, so high-speed Wi-Fi is a no-brainer.

Choose accommodation with plenty of natural light and high-ceilings, you don’t want to feel like you’re in a cubicle, even if that’s your 9-5.

When the work-day is done, make sure your accommodation has options to relax – a post-meeting pool cool-off or an early morning gym session to get your head in the game.

Finally, make sure your business accommodation is easy to get to, easy to find and easy to park. Wasting time stuck in traffic or with a confused Google Maps, is not going to ease any pre-meeting stress.

Our recommendation: One Bedroom Executive. Wake up with a Nespresso on the balcony, take some laps in the all-year heated pool, get on the conference call with high speed Wi-Fi and work in comfort with high-ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and air-conditioning. Free basement parking, a perfect location in the city for easy arrivals, a 24-hour gym, an in-room kitchen adds to the incentives. And, an outdoor BBQ and gardens makes it easy for you to do some out-of-the-box thinking.

Live Don’t Stay
Long-stay Canberra accommodation needs more than a run-of-the-mill hotel room with basics designed for comfort for a night or two. You need a place to call home.

First up is space. Generous proportions give a feeling of home, make it easy to stretch out, and not to worry that once you’ve put your bag down there’s no longer any room to walk.

As good as your hotel’s restaurant choice might be, it might not offer the same sense-of-home that cooking in your own space, or simply ordering-in and enjoying dining can give you. So, choose an apartment with a kitchen and dining area, not just a room.

Importantly, don’t compromise on storage space. Choose accommodation with bigger cupboards and not just the bare-minimum furniture. Then you can unpack and relax or get to work.

Our recommendation: Superior Apartment. Spacious and self-contained with a private balcony, Smart LED TV with Foxtel, up to 71m2 of space, open-plan lounge and dining area and a fully kitted kitchen. There’s also a second bedroom for you to bring along the family.
